- IMAD WASIM HAS DONE IT AGAIN. HE SHIFTED GEARS AT THE RIGHT MOMENT
- Things started well for the Sultans since they won the toss and chose to bat. However, you could argue that why they wanted to bowl when the dew factor can ruin the play for their bowlers.
- Islamabad bowlers did the right job since Multan’s top order couldn’t do much against Imad and Shadab.
- Mohammad Rizwan tried to play the anchor innings when the ships were sinking left and right.
- However, even he could not do much against the googly from Shadab Khan. The United skipper got the scalp of the Sultans skipper. The mother of coincidences!
- Usman Khan came in the middle and gave Multan the boost they wanted. But there’s only so much a single player can do. Usman fell to Shadab’s bamboozling bowling as well.
- Multan was well under 130, but this is where Iftimania comes into play. Iftikhar Ahmad scored those crucial 32 runs, saving Multan from a disappointing total.
- Imad Wasim is the reason Multan fell to this point. His 5-fer helped Islamabad have hopes to win their third PSL final.
- Will Islamabad win the third PSL trophy and become the most successful PSL team again, or will Multan win this match and finally win the trophy after playing their 4th consecutive finale? Let’s see

RESULT | Islamabad United won by 2 wickets |
- NOW THIS WAS A FINAL. WHAT A HIGH-OCTANE MATCH IT WAS FROM ISLAMABAD UNITED. TAKE A BOW, THE MOST SUCCESSFUL FRANCHISE OF PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE.
- Islamabad United just won the third final of HBL PSL, and now they have claimed the Orion Trophy, becoming the champion for the third time.
- They entered the tournament as a dark horse. If you guys remember our article about PSL predictions, you will see us calling ISLU the dark horse, and we claimed that whenever they were the dark horse, they won PSL. Well, the boys have proved us right.
- This was a decent total to defend. And Multan Sultans bowlers did their job in trying to defend this on the scorecards. However, Islamabad batsmen weren’t having it.
- Martin Guptill provided a great start for the team by scoring his fifty. However, that was it from the United. This is where Multan bowlers started their magic
- Khushdil and Iftikhar Ahmad bagged two wickets each, putting a dent in Islamabad’s chasing efforts. Azam Khan stood and provided some stability. However, wickets kept falling frequently.
- This is where the cool and calm Imad Wasim and the firey Naseem Shah gave hope to the United fans.
Turning point
- Islamabad was slowly creeping up to the finish line. ISLU only needed one run in two deliveries. Mohammad Ali was bowling. Naseem Shah was on strike. Things looked bleak for the Sultans, and this is when Mohammad Ali took Naseem’s wicket. This was dramatic.
- Now, things were up to Naseem’s brother, Hunain Shah. Mohammad Ali was confident enough to take Hunain’s wicket and allow Multan to become the champs for the second time.
- This is where Hunain took a leaf out of Naseem’s book, and hit the ball for four, making ISLAMABAD UNITED THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEAM OF HBL PSL BY BEING THE CHAMPS FOR THE THIRD TIME.
- ORION BELONGS TO ISLAMABAD UNITED.
Man of the match
Imad Wasim has become the man of the match. It was his five wickets that made it possible for ISLU to have a total on the board that they could chase. Later on, his runs ensured that Islamabad United went past the finish line. It’s a pity that Imad has retired now, Pakistan badly needs a player like him on the roster.
