PSL 8 Overview 2023
PSL 2023 is scheduled to begin on Thu Feb 9, 2023, to be hosted by Pakistan as per the cricket schedule announced. The PSL 2023 will have 34 PSL T20 matches, including the final hosted by Pakistan in the month of Mar 2023. The last match of the Pakistan Super League, 2023 Tournament, will be played on March 19.
There was a meeting of the Governing Council of the HBL Pakistan Super League at the National High-Performance Centre in Lahore on September 2, 2022, which was attended by the six PSL franchises and PCB officials. PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja presided over the meeting.
As part of the GC, an update was provided regarding commercial matters relating to HBL PSL 8 and HBL PSL 8. Next week, follow-up meetings will be held to finalize plans for HBL PSL 8, and all players have agreed to work closely to achieve their common goals.
PSL 8 Teams
Some important discussions were held around scheduling the next edition of the HBL PSL 8. It was decided that the HBL PSL 8 will run from 9 February to 19 March 2023. At least four venues will be used for hosting the matches, including Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan. Further discussions will take place between the franchises and the PCB to confirm the detailed schedule.
Team Drafting Criteria [Players Category]
The players of the Pakistan Super League are selected by draft. Each year, about 100 players are selected to play in the league. Currently, the following six franchises are participating in the Pakistan Super League. Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings.
The team setup is arranged with a planned picking system. The competent players are categorized into a few groups.

For each category, the picks must be made following the above order. Team members have two minutes for each pick in the first three rounds (Platinum) and 90 seconds for each in subsequent rounds. A team must comply with the following squad combination rules when making these picks.

Successful Organization of PSL Season 8
The Chairman PCB congratulated the GC on the incredible success and record-breaking HBL PSL 8 edition, the first league to be continuously staged in Pakistan since the league was launched in 2016.
It was possible to successfully organize the tournament despite significant external challenges and record revenue and viewership through the two action-packed leagues held in Karachi and Lahore.
Overview of PSL season 8
The PCB announced on 24 July 2021 that the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League would take place in January and February 2022, with all matches taking place in Pakistan. In Karachi, the National Stadium would host 15 matches; in Lahore, the Gaddafi Stadium would host 19 matches, including the playoffs.
Winner and Runner-Up of PSL season 7
The Lahore Qalandars won this season’s title, which was their first title. In the second phase, including the playoffs, Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the Final to win their first PSL title.
