Who is the captain of the Rajasthan Royals?

As a player, Samson can be called one of the kings of IPL. Sanju Samson was maybe the only top-tier Indian player to be remembered more for his achievements for his IPL team than for his national team. He was a Rajasthan Royals stalwart throughout his initial eight seasons, scoring over 3000 runs for the team.

But is he cut out to be the leader? Well, his leadership in the teams he played for started much earlier than you think it did. He led Kerala in the KSCA Inter-State under-13 competition and was named player of the tournament after accumulating 973 runs, comprising four centuries, in five games averaging 108.11. He also captained Kerala in the U-16 and U-19 categories.

In 2014, he was selected as the vice-captain for the under-19 world cup. He aged 20 when he became captain of Kerala in the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy.

He was selected as skipper of India’s A team in September 2022. The team took on New Zealand A in a three-match One-Day International series. India thrashed New Zealand, with Samson scoring the most runs in the contest.

Sanju was selected as skipper of the Rajasthan Royals in January 2021.  He became the first IPL skipper to strike a 100 in his maiden game as captain.
