PSL season 9 will start on 17 February 2024 and continue till 17 March 2024. The teams have already started gearing up for this Pakistan Super League edition. PSL drafts are the first step towards this preparation. The drafts will be held on 13 December 2023. A lot of exciting decisions will be made on this day. Things are getting interesting. And we have covered this since day one. The exciting trades among the franchises have already hyped up the drafts this year. Let’s look at the trades and how they have affected the drafts and the team’s playing 11s.

Imad Wasim for Hasan Ali
Islamabad United got Imad Wasim for Hasan Ali. You can say it is a sort of homecoming for Imad Wasim. Imad has been playing for the Islamabad region since the start of his career. So many Islamabad fans are excited to see one of the most promising all-rounders join their squad.

Imad was the man of the series for the previous season. He was instrumental in Karachi’s batting performance and tried to contain runs the best he could.

In exchange for Imad, ISLU has given up Hasan Ali, one of the premier fast bowlers and the first-round silver pick. They now have Karachi’s second-round silver pick.
Hasan Ali will be a valuable addition to Karachi Kings. His pace, bounce, and energy he brings to the table will uplift the squad.
Iftikhar Ahmad for Rilee Russouw
This trade came as a surprise to a lot of Multan Sultan fans. Rilee was their most significant asset last year. Whenever Multan Sultan’s batting was in danger, Russouw scored quickfire runs to get them back to the safety lines. In exchange for Rilee going to Quetta Gladiators, they got Iftikhar Ahmad.

Ifti has emerged as one of the most bombastic batters in recent times. His performance in T20 leagues worldwide has garnered attention from the franchises. In exchange for this trade, there are some changes in the draft pick order.

The Gladiators have swapped their first-round Platinum pick with Multan’s first-round silver pick.
Naseem Shah for Abrar Ahmad and Mohammad Wasim
This is one of the biggest trades in the PSL 9 so far. Every team wanted Naseem Shah in their squad. Naseem has recently recovered from his injury and is looking forward to a good PSL season to return to his mojo. Now, you can say that Naseem is on par with Shaheen’s stardom and quality of bowling. Some may even rate him higher than Shaheen.
In exchange for Naseem, Islamabad United has given Abrar Ahmad and Mohammad Wasim Jnr to Quetta Gladiators. Abrar is seen as a replacement for Saeed Ajmal now. The national team management looks forward to grooming him as Pakistan’s spearhead in the spin bowling department. Mohammad Wasim looked good in the Cricket World Cup 2023. With him and Abrar, Quetta’s team looks solid.
Quetta has gotten Islamabad’s first-round platinum pick and has given their third-round platinum pick to ISLU.
Shan Masood traded for Faisal Akram
Shan Masood has been traded for Faisal Akram.
Karachi Kings was looking for a player to fill Imad’s leadership shoes. They will be looking forward to making him the captain of their franchise.
Multan Sultans retained Rizwan, meaning Shan would go to Karachi Kings as per the rumours. Now that KK has Shan, Multan Sultans have Faisal Akram, Karachi’s first-round Diamond pick, and their first-round silver pick.
