PSL stars shine in ILT20
The International League T20 started on 19 January 2024, and a lot of Pakistani stars are playing in it. However, a lot more Pakistani stars are shining together in the Desert Vipers. Do you know that Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan are representing the same team in this league? Yes, you heard that right. A lot of premium PSL players are playing in a single team. Desert Vipers have found the gold mine. Is this possible in PSL as well? Or do we have to enter a parallel universe? The first match glory – Playing for the same team.
Desert Vipers started their campaign against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. However, they couldn’t win the match. However, they came back with a bang yesterday with their match against the Gulf Giants. And guess what, Pakistani stars made it possible for them to win by containing the opposition at 160.
There were some highs, there were some lows. Let’s discuss how Amir, Shaheen, Azam, and Shadab did during this match for the Vipers.
Mohammad Amir
Amir provided the first wicket by bowling the short ball to the captain, James Vince. This made it possible for the rest of the bowling attack to have a fault line they could manipulate to take regular wickets. Amir was pretty economical in this match. He conceded only 27 runs in four overs, taking the crucial wicket of James Vince.
Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen was the man today among the bowlers. He ended the day with the bowling figures of 3-22 in four overs. This is phenomenal. Firstly, he took the wicket of Jamie Smith in the 3rd over. He tried to play, but the movement from Shaheen cleaned the stumps. In the death overs, Shaheen Jordan Cox and Chris Jordan. A good day for Shaheen.
Azam Khan
Azam Khan was the one who successfully ended the chase for the Vipers. He scored 26 runs in 14 deliveries, hitting one sixer and 3 fours. This wasn’t what all he could do, but all he there was to do. Azam looks in the mood to score big runs in this tournament.
Shadab Khan conundrum
Shadab has continued his poor form since the Asia Cup. He wasn’t effective in the tournament, couldn’t do much in the World Cup, and had to rest during the New Zealand series. He has to shift gears. Otherwise, Islamabad United is in a sticky situation.
