Fakhar Zaman 41 (36) | Usama Mir 1-25 |
Sikandar Raza 23 (16) | Abbas Afridi 1-34 |
TARGET | 167 RUNS in 20 overs |
- Fakhar appeared to be having one of his nights, but after the powerplay, he lost his timing and plodded around.
- Rassie was the standout player, and his wicket came at the wrong time for Lahore.
- A handful of contributions from Raza and Jahandad pushed Lahore to surpass 160.
- Multan’s catching was awful, with Khushdil losing two and Mir one.
- But all is well in their camp, as Rizwan walks to the fielder who slips a catch and pats him on the back with supportive words.
- Mohammad Ali was again the highlight of the bowlers. Multan Sultans has struck a gold mine by finding this one. Luckily, they aren’t feeling the absence of Ihsanullah.
Second Innings – Multan Sultans
Multan Sultans 170-5 (19 overs) | |
BATTING | BOWLING |
Mohammad Rizwan 82 (59) | Shaheen Shah Afridi 2-25 |
Iftikhar Ahmed 34 (11) | Zaman Khan 2-52 |
David Willey 25 (23) | George Linde 1-26 |
RESULT | Multan Sultans won by 5 wickets |
- Rizwan basically carried the entire team in this inning. Zaman Khan, Shaheen Afridi, and Linde picked up those early wickets, leaving Rizwan in dismay
- However, these are the conditions where Rizwan shines the most. He stuck at one end and kept the score going, David Willey spent some time with Rizwan on the crease, helping him take the score to a safer point.
- After this, Multan Sultans needed someone to boost the innings past the target. And this is where IftiMania went hard. Iftikhar Ahmad scored 34 runs in 11 deliveries, hitting the final nail in the coffin.
- Overall, it was an admirable effort from Mohammad Rizwan and co to win the third match in succession.
- Multan Sultans have played pretty well considering their team combination has totally changed.
Man of the match
Mohammad Rizwan deserves this man of the match award for his resilience in this chase effort.
