1st innings – Islamabad United
Islamabad United 144-10 | |
BATTING | BOWLING |
Agha Salman 52 (43) | Mohammad Ali 3-19 |
Jordan Cox 41 (28) | Abbas Afridi 3-33 |
Azam Khan 13 (10) | Usama Mir 2-29 |
TARGET | 145 RUNS in 20 overs |
- Multan’s bowlers put up an outstanding performance, keeping Islamabad under 150.
- They were fantastic with the new ball, brilliant at the death, and gave nothing away in the middle overs.
- Mohammad Ali was the highlight again, this time with 3/19, giving him two 3-wicket hauls in two games. He jagged the ball throughout the powerplay before returning to finish it in style.
- David Willey and Olly Stone were also excellent. And keep in mind Usama Mir, who bowled an outstanding spell in the middle overs to remove Jordan Cox, who was beginning to threaten.
- However, this is not the most easy pitch for hitting. The fresh ball moves forward, and the slower ball remains on the pitch later, as shown in the last game.
- So Salman Agha’s fifty provided Islamabad with something to work with.
Second innings – Multan Sultans
Multan Sultans 145-5 | |
BATTING | BOWLING |
Reeza Hendricks 58 (46) | Naseem Shah 2-27 |
Mohammad Rizwan 43 (33) | Imad Wasim 1-22 |
Iftikhar Ahmed 18 (17) | Tymal Mills 1-31 |
RESULT | Multan Sultans won by 5 wickets |
- This chase was more of a walk in the park for Multan Sultans. However, Islamabad bowlers didn’t back off either.
- Reeza Hendricks and Mohammad Rizwan scored the bulk of the runs during this chase. Naseem and Imad tried to bring some flavour to the resistance, but there wasn’t much on the plate to play around with.
- The pitch favoured the pacers, and it could have been a lot better for Naseem Shah. But the runs he had to play around with didn’t give him much of a chance.
- Multan did stutter a bit in the middle. But Iftikhar Ahmad stood and scored the final runs, steering the team to a comfortable win with a margin of 5 wickets.
Man of the match.
Mohammad Ali is having the time of his life so far in HBL PSL 9. This is his second match, and he has taken his second 3-wicket haul. What a lad!
