So the match between the top teams of the Women’s Premier League is here. We all thought it was going to be such a stunner. But wasn’t this an anti-climactic show? Delhi Capitals is among the top teams in WPL for a reason. While both of these teams are at the top of the table and have qualified for the playoffs already, they still have to play this game.
The first-place team advances directly to the final, while the second-place team must compete in an eliminator. The Mumbai Indians won easily in the second leg, but Meg Lanning and company will try to equal the score tonight.

Mumbai Indians women
- With the bat, Mumbai Indians had a difficult day. The problems began in the third over, when Marizanne Kapp removed Bhatia and Sciver-Brunt in quick succession.
- The threatening Hayley Matthews was also dismissed in the following over, due to a spectacular low catch by Jemimah Rodrigues.
- Amelia Kerr didn’t survive long either, as she was overtaken by the keeper. MI formed a combo with Pooja Vastrakar and captain Harmanpreet, but they both were out in the deep after great beginnings.
- Issy Wong and Amanjot Kaur then provided consistent efforts, while Radha Yadav and Jonassen delivered a few poor deliveries.
- Mumbai Indians finish with 109 runs for the cost of 8 wickets.
Delhi Capitals women
- The Delhi Capitals completed this quickly. MI appeared to be unbeatable until last week, when they were defeated, and now they were humbled.
- DC were always favourites with a tiny target, and Shafali Verma got them off to a good start. She dominated the powerplay, scoring over the middle of the field for good measure.
- Matthews, on the other hand, got the best of her in the last powerplay over, bringing Alice Kapsey to the front. She picked up where Verma left off, smashing Matthews for three sixes in an over.
- Meg Lanning also contributed, scoring at a rapid pace. When Ishaque came to bowl, Capsey assaulted her, taking two sixes and a four.
- Then it was up to the winning runs to be scored in that particular over. Delhi Capitals reach the mark in 9 overs, moving ahead of MI on net run rate. What an amazing performance.
