ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Trent bolt will return to the squad

The Black Caps have announced their squad for their ODI series against England, but what surprised everyone was the addition of their spearhead bowler, Trent Boult. Trent was their main bowler in the last two cricket world cups.

The way he makes the ball dance is uncanny. That he was one of the main factors New Zealand reached the finale last time is absolutely correct.

Due to personal reasons, Trent Boult wasn’t playing ODI matches for his country for a long time. You can say that he has been absent from the scene since September last year. But now, the team has called him, and he has answered their call.

More about the news later in this article.

Boult joins the scene again.

The left-arm pacer would swing the ball hard and make it move like a banana. His ability to swing the ball made him an asset in the previous two world cups.

But he is not playing any match for the team since September last year. He did play in the T20 world cup, but that was it. The reason is that he let go of the central contract. By not becoming part of the central contract, he wasn’t obligated to be available for selection.

Why he made this decision? He wanted to spend more time with his family and play more league cricket. Trent Boult has a lot of experience playing in the IPL.

Because these leagues are a better option for the player financially, the boards support their players in such decisions.

But lack of availability was causing anxiousness among fans of the pacer. He didn’t play the series against India and Pakistan earlier this year.

However, the New Zealand Cricket Board has called him for the series against England, making their intentions clear that they want the fast bowler to play the world cup again.

Series against England

“We’re delighted to have Trent back in our ODI squad as he gets ready for the World Cup in India.”

This is what Gary Stead told the media. You feel better going into a big tournament like the world cup when you have experienced players.

The series with the English will start on 8 September and end on 15 September. This makes it the best time to play an ODI series, considering they will play their first match against the same team in the world cup.

Parting thoughts

Everybody loves some quality fast bowling. Bowlers like Trent Boult make the matches alive. They make the ball alive on the pitch. It makes the match more interesting.
