Pakistan vs. Nepal, who will win the match? Will Nepal be able to provide an upset this time?
With the ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner, teams will look towards the Asia Cup 2023 as a prelude to the World Cup. However, all the World Cup speculation does not take away the prestige of the Asia Cup itself, as each team will try to win it.
This is especially true for Pakistan, who will be determined to make an impression, having just secured 1st place in ICC ODI team rankings.
Asia Cup opens with a match between Pakistan & Nepal on 30 August. Pakistan is the favorite to win this match owing to the recent hot form.
However, Nepal is the underdog and may just have a surprise for us waiting in this tournament. Mainly when just 1 win almost guarantees next-stage qualification, as two of the three teams go to the next round.
Pakistan enters the tournament after a series of whitewash wins against Afghanistan. This is a massive boost in confidence, and their chances are only enhanced with the presence of world-class players, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah & Haris Rauf, to name a few.
The team looks much more experienced, and with players like Imam-ul-Haq stepping up their game, Pakistan may just be the favourites to win the whole tournament
As all the PCT fans know and have experienced, the team’s unpredictability makes them prone to a batting collapse which may allow Nepal to capitalize and upset them. PCT should not treat this match as a formality and should go all guns blazing.
Nepal may use the motivation of being an underdog and cause an upset. However, this does not mean they can’t take the game to Pakistan. The return of Sandeep Lamichhane to the squad seriously enforces their lineup, along with the presence of other talented players. Nepal could trouble Pakistan on a spinning pitch.
Inexperience and high-level tournaments can overwhelm teams and cause them to lose. Furthermore, Pakistan outclasses Nepal regarding experience and quality in a player vs. player case.
Conclusion – Who will win?
Apart from the Pakistan Cricket Team being the authors of their audacious downfall (as observed so many times), I do not see Nepal winning this match. Due to the team’s sheer individual quality, I predict Pakistan will win this match comfortably.
