It was not an easy task for Bangladesh. However, their players were aware of the situation in Lahore’s stadium. Most of the players from the team have played their fair share of PSL. But this didn’t save them from a batting collapse as well. There was some resistance, but it wasn’t enough. Let’s have a look.

• In response, Afghanistan lost an early wicket in the shape of Gurbaz, and the Afghan top-order batsmen, particularly Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah, retreated into a shell.
• Ibrahim Zadran did have an exciting innings, although few of his strokes came after he had reached fifty.
• Afghanistan were never in the game, notwithstanding Shahidi’s fifty.
• Rashid Khan pushed a few boundaries at the finish, but it was never enough.

Man of the match

Mehdi became the man of the match. He may not have the best track record in the ODIs. However, he has emerged as one of the best ODI players Bangladesh has in the squad. His century and a wicket have helped Bangladesh reach the next stage. A well deserved award for him!
