Azam Khan, the young batsman from Islamabad United has set a new record in ILT20. He was playing for the Desert Vipers against the Gulf Giants. The team needed to chase the 161 runs faster so that they could get a boost in their NRR.

And the young lad from Islamabad United took up the mantle. He scored 50 runs in 18 balls, creating the record for the fastest fifty in ILT20.

Previously, Kieron Pollard held the record for the fastest fifty in this tournament. However, Azam Khan broke the record by scoring the 50 in 18 balls.

This innings had 5 fours and 4 sixers. The strike rate of 300 is a testament to Azam Khan’s ability as an explosive middle-order batsman.

PSL 9 hasn’t even started, and such signals are great for Islamabad United. They will face the defending champions on 17 February 2024 in the tournament opener in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

This was a huge victory for the Desert Vipers. This inning from Azam Khan helped them chase 161 runs with 19 balls remaining. This way, they got the necessary boost in their NRR, taking them to third position on the points table.
