1st Innings

What a change from 76/0 to 99/5 as the Zalmis faltered with bad strokes and Hasan Ali’s tail. Babar saw all this after putting Islamabad under strain with a strong initial partnership with Mohammad Haris.

As Peshawar lost 5 wickets, Babar was forced to bat with the tail and could not provide the late charge that his team needed.

He was angry at times because his timing was off. Islamabad bowled brilliantly in the last five overs, conceding only 31 runs.

Now, they have to defend 156 runs.

PESHAWAR ZALMI 156-8
BATTING BOWLING
Babar Azam 75(58) Hasan Ali 3-35
Mohammad Haris 40(21) Rumman Raees 1-30
Faheem Ashraf 1-28
Shadab Khan 1-26

2nd Innings

Islamabad United had a leisurely walk. The 157-point objective was never supposed to be too much, but Gurbaz made it a no-brainer inside the powerplay.

The Afghanistan opening batsman came out firing, and even the loss of his teammate, Munro, didn’t slow him down. Rassie van der Dussen was an excellent second inning, as the duo added a 50+ stand.

Peshawar took a couple of wickets in rapid order, but van der Dussen and Asif Ali proceeded to score boundaries, and they eventually won with about 5 overs to spare.

Previously, Peshawar Zalmi fell from 76/0 to 99/5 to relinquish the momentum to Islamabad United, and it was there that they lost the game.

ISLAMABAD UNITED 159-4
BATTING BOWLING
Rahmanullah Gurbaz 62(31) Usman Qadir 1-50
Rassie van der Dussen 42(29) Arshad Iqbal 1-38
Asif Ali 29(13)

Player of the match

Hassan Ali was named the player of the match for turning the tables. He went for 17 runs in his first over. But then he took 2 for 2 in his second over and conceded 7 and 9 runs in his 3rd and 4th overs. What a comeback from the pacer. That is only if he was informed during the world cup.
