Zainab Abbas and Adnan Siddiqui hosted the drafts this time. Sikandar Bakht, Azhar Ali, and Arooj Mumtaz were among the presenters.

PSL Draft For International Players

HBL PSL Player Draft 2024 registration has been opened to leading T20 cricketers worldwide. From full member and associate nations, 493 players have registered for the player draft, including 29 Platinum players and 81 Diamond players (names below).

England has the highest concentration of foreign players, with 140. Sri Lanka is second with 60, Afghanistan is third with 43, West Indies is fourth with 38, Bangladesh comes in at 28, and South Africa is fifth with 25. Australia is sixth with 14, and Zimbabwe is seventh with 11. Ireland is ninth with nine players.

The local player draft categories have been announced for the 2024 Pakistan Super League, with Haider Ali receiving an upgrade from diamond to platinum.

A PSL season ends in March, and the draft process begins in November for the following season. When discussing T20 cricket in Pakistan, it’s impossible to avoid discussing the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Sunday, December 18, is the day for the draft for the edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The first pick in the PSL 9 draft will belong to the Lahore Qalandars led by Shaheen Shah Afridi. It was announced previously that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host the T20 tournament. We are providing real-time information.

Rivals of PSL

United Arab Emirates League

This year two or three new leagues are going to start. So It will create a lot of difficulties for the availability of the players for PSL. These new leagues include the United Arab Emirates league.

This Twenty20 cricket league organized by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is scheduled from 6th January to 12th February. They are ready to pay USD 450,000 to the top players. So the PSL must increase the salary cap for different categories.

Big Bash League (BBL)

A Twenty20 cricket league organized by Cricket Australia, the Big Bash League (BBL) season 12 will take place from 13 December to 4 February. BBL is paying the highest salary of USD 258,000.

Indian Premier League (IPL)

IPL has been tentatively scheduled between 25 March 2024 to 28 May.

South Africa T20 League

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has formed the South Africa T20 League, which is scheduled to begin.

Governing Council of PSL Meeting

There was a meeting of the Governing Council of the HBL Pakistan Super League 0n 02 September 2023 at the National High-Performance Centre in Lahore. All six franchises of the HBL PSL attended, along with PCB officials who are members of the Governing Council.

There has been some discussion regarding the next edition of the HBL Premier League. It was decided that the HBL PSL 2024 will occur between 8 February and 24 March.

The matches will be played in at least four venues, including Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan. The franchises and the PCB will continue to discuss the schedule details in due course to finalize the schedule.

PSL 9 Draft

The first announcement is anticipated to be either the pick order in the upcoming draft or the categories of local players that will be renewed. The pick order is largely a matter of luck.

There is a random draw or other similar activity to determine the pick order for the first round of the draft (the first Platinum picks), and a ‘special statistical tool’ is used to determine the pick order for the remaining 17 rounds.

Additionally, the categories of local players from the previous season have been renewed. A vote is conducted to renew the contract. Each franchisee’s representative votes for each category of local players, except for the local players for their franchises.

The new categories will be reviewed by several PCB officials and then finalized. At this point, teams may begin to consider possible trades and retentions. The draft list will be released soon after.
