HBL PSL Commercial Budget
15 February 2024
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made an important decision on the budget for ads in the forthcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.
The Board of Governors (BoG), led by current Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, convened to examine the budget. The meeting’s goal was to guarantee that the league generates a profit of around Rs1,945 million in the upcoming season, which begins on February 17.
One of the most significant decisions made was to boost the commercial budget from Rs459,500,000 to Rs544,500,000. This implies that they restored Rs85 million to the funding that had previously been cut.
They also resolved to boost the budget for logistics, administration, and power. However, they cut the money set aside for security by Rs 56 million.
The initial security budget was roughly Rs286 million, but it has now been reduced to Rs230 million. They also resolved to increase their human resources budget from Rs25 million to Rs38 million.
While they made modifications to other areas of the budget, they preserved media spending at roughly Rs6.5 million. They also added Rs130 million to the logistics budget, which had previously been reduced.
They also resolved to increase the PCB’s share of the league’s revenue. They used to receive roughly Rs675 million, but it has now been upped to Rs725 million, representing an additional Rs50 million.
The PCB anticipates a profit of around Rs1,945 million from Season 9. This is all part of their plan to ensure the league’s financial success.
Emerging talents in HBL PSL 9

The HBL Pakistan Super League is well-known for providing opportunities to budding cricket players. In the ninth edition, there are several new players to keep an eye on. Let’s discover more about these interesting players.
Mohammad Zeeshan, a promising fast bowler, stands 6 feet 8 inches tall. He has performed well for the Pakistan Under-19 squad and is noted for making the ball bounce high, making it difficult for batters to play.
Saad Baig is from Karachi and will represent the city in the HBL PSL 9. He has captained the Pakistan Under-19 squad and guided them to some significant victories in tournaments.
Ubaid Shah will play for Islamabad United. He is a quick bowler, like his brothers, and has performed admirably for the Pakistan Under-19 squad.
Shamyl Hussain is a talented hitter who will play for Islamabad United. He enjoys batting in the style of Brian Lara, a well-known West Indian cricketer. S
yed Faridoun is a spinner who will represent Lahore Qalandars. He learnt a lot while playing in Australia’s Big Bash League.
Faisal Akram is another spinner who will appear for the Multan Sultans. He hasn’t had much of an opportunity to play in the past, but he’s eager to demonstrate his abilities now.

Technology meets HBL PSL 9
13 February 2024
Technology is making a huge impact on cricket, particularly in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). As we prepare for the ninth edition, let’s look at how technology is transforming the game and making it more interesting for spectators.
High-definition cameras will make cricket watching much more enjoyable. There will be 30 of them, including a special one nicknamed the “buggy cam,” to offer viewers a better view of the action on the field.
Furthermore, the Spidercam, which can move about, now has improved sound technology, allowing you to hear interviews with athletes directly from the field.
Have you heard of the Decision Review System (DRS)? It’s a technique to ensure that umpires make fair rulings. In HBL PSL 9, teams can utilize this technology to dispute judgments that they believe are incorrect.
It adds some tension and excitement to the game! Imagine watching the cricket ground from a great height! That is exactly what drone cameras will perform during this season of PSL.
They’ll take stunning images from above the stadium, making you feel as if you’re right there in the action.
Prepare for some stunning graphics on your screen throughout the matches. There will be a variety of interesting metrics and statistics on the players, the game, and more. Also, you’ll watch films of the athletes up close.

This is why you can’t book HBL PSL tickets right now
6 February 2024
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine has encountered a hitch. Cybercriminals targeted the website where you may reserve tickets for matches.
This implies you can’t purchase tickets online like you were intended to. The guys that run PSL are working hard to repair the site.
They have a team of technical professionals working on it. They hope to have everything up and running again soon.
So don’t worry, they’ve got it! Because of the hack, the plan to begin selling tickets on February 6 had to be postponed. That’s a shame for those who were hoping to get their tickets early.
To ensure that everyone gets into the game properly, the PSL said they will only take actual tickets. That implies that no e-tickets, such as those printed at home or shown on a phone, will function.
So, if you want to go, you’ll need an actual ticket. Unfortunately, the incident created a delay in buying PSL tickets. But the individuals at PSL are working hard to make things right.
So stay tuned, keep an eye out for developments, and prepare to cheer for your favourite teams shortly!

2 February 2024
There are reports that Ali Zafar and Aima Baig will sing this year’s PSL anthem. Both have previously sung anthems. However, there is a hue and cry when it comes to Ali Zafar.
Fans have mixed reactions when it comes to Ali singing the anthem. Due to certain allegations, some fans are not in favour of Ali Zafar getting this gig. At the same time, some fans fully support this and would love to see Ali Zafar singing the anthem again.
Ali Zafar’s voice brings a lot of memories for the PSL fans. He was there for the first few seasons. However, the allegations against him put a stop to his involvement in PSL at any level.
There are also reports that Aima and Ali have already recorded the song. However, some franchises, mainly the Multan Sultans, are unhappy with this decision. They are showing resistance against this.
PCB has to do something. Any further delay can harm the brand value of PSL.

Is Peshawar in competition for hosting PSL matches?
12 January 2024
As the 2024 Pakistan Super League approaches, there is some exciting news that Peshawar might host games. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering launching PSL 9 in Peshawar, marking the start of the cricket season.
To make this possible, the board must obtain approval from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to utilize the renowned Arbab Niaz and Hayatabad stadiums. Cricket fans may look forward to an exciting encounter if all goes well.
The decision to consider Peshawar a host city came following a recent conversation between PCB Chairman Managing Committee, Zaka Ashraf, and key Khyber Pakhtunkhwa politicians. This meeting has paved the way for negotiations, allowing PSL matches to be held in Peshawar.
PCB authorities want to ensure that the venues selected are suitable for hosting PSL matches. An Infrastructure and Domestic Departments delegation is now in Peshawar inspecting the Arbab Niaz and Hayatabad Stadiums. This thorough inspection will determine if these venues are ready for top-level cricket.
The announcement that Peshawar would host PSL matches has pleased cricket fans. The prospect of watching key matches in the heart of KP is enticing. Peshawar, with its rich culture and devoted cricket fans, has the potential to make the PSL even more spectacular for both players and spectators.
Now, it is up to the KP administration to determine if Peshawar can host PSL matches. If the government approves and supports this concept, Peshawar might host PSL 9. It all hinges on the government’s willingness to collaborate.

Use PSL to strengthen your U-19, says Mohammad Yousuf
4 January 2024
While talking to the media about the U19 cricket world cup, the head coach of the Pakistan U19 cricket team said that we should use PSL to make our U19 team stronger. Citing India as an example, MoYo said that T20 leagues are good for making money. However, you have to invest that money in your junior teams to develop players for the future. This is the only way you will be able to survive.
Who is the best wicketkeeper in PSL?
3 January 2024
So, who is the best wicketkeeper in PSL right now? Is it Sarfaraz, or is it Rizwan? Both of these players have performed well for Pakistan over the years, and it is a headache for the Selectors to choose from these options. Each player has a considerable fanbase and will engage in fierce debates to prove which player is the best wicketkeeper in PSL.
Let’s look at the stats. Rizwan has a total of 74 dismissals in 71 PSL matches. While Sarfaraz ranks third with 49 dismissals in 80 PSL matches. Rizwan also has the most dismissals in any PSL season, with 20 in PSL 2020. Sarfaraz doesn’t even come close, with only 9 dismissals in PSL 2017-18.
I don’t know about who is the better batsman. However, Rizwan wins by a long shot if we look at the stats as a wicketkeeper.

Why prominent local players weren’t picked in the HBL PSL 9 draft?
30 December 2023
Prominent local names like Ahmad Shahzad, Umar Akmal, and Haider Ali went unpicked in HBL PSL 9 drafts on 13 December 2023. But why is the case? You could say that players like Umar Akmal and Haider Ali failed to perform up to their hype. However, Ahmad was performing well in the National T20 Cup.
Ahmad Shahzad wrote a heartfelt goodbye to PSL after he wasn’t picked in the drafts, stating that certain people do not want him to play cricket. However, if you look at the franchises, they are going for the plans and want youngsters to be in their teams. While Ahmad scored a lot of runs in the domestic, he doesn’t fit the player profile the franchises have been looking for. The same goes for Umar Akmal, while Haider hasn’t performed up to his potential lately.
Also, local players like Mubasir Khan weren’t picked. This is a shock because Pakistan is suffering from a lack of quality spinners. Shouldn’t you groom a young spinner who has brought good results in U19 and A tours?
Ultimately, it all comes down to what franchises want for their good.
Is there going to be a hat trick?
29 December 2023
PSL season 7. It is the final match on 27 February 2022 between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans. The final match is in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. After years of defeats and humiliation, Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans to win their first-ever PSL title. The Qalandars win this match by 42 runs.
PSL season 8. It is the final on 18 March 2023. Again, it is between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans. Gaddafi Stadium again witnesses a final match between the two teams. Again, this time as well, the Qalandars have to defend the total. And they handed over the ball to Zaman Khan. He successfully defended the 13 runs, and Lahore won the match by 1 run.
It felt like deja vu with the same teams in the same venue. And Lahore became the first team in the history of HBL PSL to defend their title.
However, the real question is, can they do it for the third time? Simply put, Lahore hasn’t lost its potency regarding the team combination. However, there have been some significant changes in the Multan Sultans setup. It will be very hard to see Multan in the final again. However, Lahore might as well be the winner for the third time. Let’s see what happens on 17 March 2024.
Peshawar and Quetta missed out again
28 December 2023
Let’s talk about PSL 9 venues. This year, there was a scare that PSL might have to shift to some other country. This was due to the General Elections 2024. However, Zaka Ashraf answered these concerns on 13 December 2023 by announcing 4 venues for HBL PSL 2024. These four cities are Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan. Unfortunately, Peshawar and Quetta must wait again to host the PSL matches.
Peshawar and Quetta won PSL titles in 2017 and 2019, respectively. However, both cities have yet to host even a single PSL match. This happens due to a lack of infrastructure and security concerns.
Last year, there was a strong chance that Quetta would be included in the list of hosts for PSL 8. PCB even hosted a warmup match. All the stakeholders in Quetta welcomed this move. However, Najam Sethi, the chairman, failed to provide Quetta Gladiators the opportunity to play PSL matches in front of their crowd.
This year, the Zalmis tried hard to make Peshawar a venue for PSL, but in vain.
This is the 9th consecutive season of PSL. The main question is, how much more time does PCB need to prepare both Peshawar and Quetta so that the fans can support their teams on their home turf? Only time will tell what PCB does about this issue.
Most expensive players in HBL PSL 9
26 December 2023
According to the sources, we have found the most expensive players in PSL 9. This might be a fluke. However, things are looking quite convincing. Anyways, take this news with a grain of salt, Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah, Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan are the most expensive players of PSL 2024. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are at the top of the charts regarding T20 batters ranking. At the same time, Shaheen is the national team’s T20 skipper. He has also won Lahore Qalandars two back-to-back titles as a captain. These players have the profile good enough to have their bags full of money.
Pleasant wishes!
25 December 2023
Pakistan Super League is all about Pakistan, and the social media team showcased that on the internet across different platforms. 25th of December holds a lot of significance for Pakistanis. This is because the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, was born today. Mr Jinnah’s services to the whole nation need no introductions. That is why the PSL team wishes everyone in Pakistan for this auspicious Quaid-e-Azam day. Nations have always used sports to propagate their ideals and values. Cricket is one major sport that is played in Pakistan. Why shouldn’t they use it to congratulate the Nation and highlight Mr. Jinnah’s importance in Pakistan?
Pakistan’s national flag has two colors: white and green. While the green color represents the Muslim Majority, the white color represents all the minorities. Keeping the spirit of harmony alive with the Pakistani Christian community, the PSL account also wished everyone a Merry Christmas.

5 December 2023
The PSL this year might be played outside the country due to the general elections in Pakistan. Because of this, there is a lot of speculation about the possible venue for this “hybrid” model in PSL 2024. Some say that South Africa or UAE might be a candidate for this. PCB has used the UAE as a venue before as well. Let’s see what happens regarding this issue. The fans will want the league to be in Pakistan.
