The defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, have announced the player retentions for the PSL 2024 edition. They have retained 8 players from their previous squad. The Qalandars have retained some T20 powerhouses in their squad. Although we can debate the category some of these are placed into, there isn’t much to differ. They have also retained Rashid Khan. This Afghanistan legspinner is one of the best spin bowlers in modern-day T20 cricket. Rashid has different variations of the googly itself. This should tell you how potent he can be. However, it is shocking how PCB has kept him in the silver category. Someone of Rashid’s calibre should be in a higher category. But, there are concerns about his fitness level and whether he will play PSL. So keep your eyes on the replacement draft. We might see Rashid’s replacement there.
Sikandar Raza and Abdullah Shafique have proved great talents for limited-overs cricket. David Wiese has proved lethal in containing the opposition in the middle overs.
