Sam Curran no longer a part of Punjab Kings

Sam Curran was the hottest commodity in the IPL 2023. He was the most expensive player in the 2023 auction and was auctioned to Punjab Kings. Sam Curran was also the most expensive player in the history of IPL so far. He is a young and capable allrounder, something that any T20 franchise will need. However, it seems like Punjab Kings is ready to part ways with Sam for the latest edition of IPL. They have released Sam, making him available for IPL 2024 Auction for the other teams.

However, was Curran able to prove his worth considering the price his franchise paid for him? He scored 276 runs in 14 IPL games and took 10 wickets at an economy rate of 10. Things went south for the Kings, considering that they had paid 18.5 crore INR for Sam.

This wasn’t the sort of performance they might have expected from him. If we look at Sam Curran’s career so far, he has played 199 T20s, scored 2600 runs, and claimed 191 wickets. If things had gone as planned, Sam was a lethal player with much to offer for his franchise. This also leaves a window for him to return to Punjab Kings; however, it will be at a lower price. He is also a capable leader, considering that he led the team in the absence of Dhawan.
