What will be the format of this tournament?

Five franchises will participate in a double round-robin competition. Then, there will be a playoff stage.

Didn’t get it? No worries. Let me explain it a bit more. The first campaign will feature 22 games, with each side playing one another twice each for 8 games per side. The top-ranked squad will advance straight to the final, whereas the 2nd and 3rd in the rankings will compete in an Eliminator to select the other finalist.

How are the squads set up?

The setting of the squads is exciting. Why? Because it gives a chance to players from associate ICC nations as well. Let me explain how.

There should be at least 18 members in a squad. Each franchise has a window to select 6 foreigners. They are allowed to play 5 players from outside India, and at least one of those players has to be from a nation that is not a full-time ICC member.

This is truly an unprecedented move from BCCI. It promotes women’s cricket and encourages players from the associated nations. This is what we expect from one of the giants of world cricket. the ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule PDF is also updated.

Who will Live Stream the WIPL 2023? – Broadcasting rights

The agreement is for 5 years, from 2023 to 2027, with games shown on Sports18 TV and streamed live on the JioCinema application.
