In the first official announcement, the pick order in the next draft or the renewed categories of local players will be announced. In the pick order, there is a great deal of luck involved.
The PSL Draft 2024 is going to happen on 13th December.

A random draw or a similar activity determines the pick order for the first round of the draft (first Platinum picks). A ‘special statistical tool’ determines the pick order for the remaining 17 rounds.
In the meantime, the categories of local players from the previous season have been renewed. Voting is conducted to renew the contract. Each franchisee’s representative votes for the categories of local players, except for their own players.
After this is completed, several PCB officials will review the renewed categories and finalize them. At this point, teams begin to consider possible trades and retentions. Soon after this, the draft list will be released.
Teams begin trading their players as soon as this list is released. Trades can be made through the trade window or on a draft day.

PSL Retained Players List
As the teams consider their potential trades, they also consider their retentions. The rules for squad combinations apply to retentions, although there are no separate restrictions. A team can retain eight players from the previous season’s squad. This section will provide a list of PSL-retained players for all teams.
Rules for Squad Selection
During squad selection, teams must follow the following rules:
- A team should contain a minimum of one foreigner and one local player from the Platinum category.
- There should be at least three foreign players from the Platinum, Diamond, and Gold categories (combined).
- A team should have at least five foreign players in the 16-man squad. Teams can pick a sixth foreign player in the Supplementary round.
