Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in the same boat as Pakistan!

Earlier this year, there have been talks about India not coming to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. If you are not living under a rock, you already know that. So far, there have been numerous incidents in Pakistan’s political environment.

India also tried to use this as an excuse after they claimed their government wasn’t giving them permission to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

After that, they tried to pull out of the Asia Cup, but Pakistan countered that by proposing a hybrid model for the hosting.

PCB proposed that they will host Asia Cup 2023 in a hybrid way. They will host some matches in Pakistan, while India and other countries will play the rest in the UAE.

India also opposed this model and wanted to host the tournament in Sri Lanka or UAE.

Later, there were reports that ACC had proposed Sri Lanka as a host for this year’s tournament due to security concerns in Pakistan. But these reports came out as false. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board also denied these claims.

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT BOTH SRI LANKA AND BANGLADESH HAVE ACCEPTED PCB’S HYBRID MODEL.

Let’s discuss more of this news

A scent of betrayal?

During the viral news that Sri Lanka had accepted to host the Asia Cup 2023, PCB’s authorities contacted the board. They have a bilateral series planned with Sri Lanka shortly.

PCB threatened to pull out of the bilateral series with Sri Lanka when the news went viral. Due to the misinformation’s severity, the Sri Lankan Cricket board categorically denied these claims. It was fake news. Rather than this, Sri Lanka has approved the hybrid model of PCB.

What is next? – Final words

While Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have accepted the hybrid model, we still have to see what the BCCI will say. They are adamant that they do not want the hybrid model, even though PCB went all the way to accommodate them and held their matches outside Pakistan.

This says a lot about the real reason for India not wanting Pakistan to host this year’s Asia Cup. It is all about politics.

Meanwhile, Najam Sethi seems to be goofing around. He recently stated in an interview with an Indian media channel that England can possibly host the Asia Cup.

While we highly doubt the authenticity of the claim, there are strong chances that India has to agree to the hybrid model. This is due to Sethi’s recent interview with BBC that if India doesn’t come to Pakistan, Pakistan also won’t go and play in India.

Let’s hope for the best that people will keep politics out of the sports.
