1st innings
Karachi Kings ends with a total of 185 for 5, which might be significant as they look for their first win of the HBL PSL8.
They were invited to bat, and after removing Sharjeel Khan, they revised their opening pair, which worked. Vince and Wade, their foreign star bats, contributed 70 runs in just over 7 overs to build a solid foundation.
Contributions from Haider and Shoaib Malik followed that, but when Vince was dismissed at 124 for 4, they looked to ruin all of their early efforts.
But Imad Wasim pulled the innings together and hit an unbeaten 19-ball 35 to push them beyond the 180-run barrier. Dew may play a role, but the hosts will be hoping to snap their three-match losing streak.
Let’s look at the first innings summary.
KARACHI KINGS 185-5 | |
BATTING | BOWLING |
James Vince 46(36) | Zaman Khan 1-34 (4) |
Mathew Wade 36(24) | Haris Rauf 1-35 (4) |
Imad Wasim 35(19) |
2nd innings
The curse is finally over. Karachi won the match. They defeated the defending champs by 67 runs. Lahore did get out to a flyer with Baig, but once Zaman went down, Karachi took a grasp on the scoring pace.
Baig and Ghulam were able to form a partnership, but it took too long and lacked momentum, leaving Lahore farther behind in the second innings.
The asking price continued to rise, and it was simply a question of Karachi remaining calm, which they did admirably. Lahore’s pursuit unraveled in the second half of their session. Javed fared well with a 4-fer, but Imad and Tahir put all the heat on.
LAHORE QALANDARS 118-10 | |
BATTING | BOWLING |
Mirza Baig 45(39) | Akif Javed 4-28 (3.3) |
Kamran Ghulam 23(22) | Aamer Yamin 2-18 (3) |
Sikandar Raza 18(12) | Ben Cutting 2-12 (1) |
