TARGET229 RUNS in 20 overs
  • Multan Sultans were introduced to bats and wanted to have a little fun. Yasir Khan launched them with an explosion of boundaries.
  • Hunain Shah ripped him up in his opening over. Faheem was costly in the two overs he bowled during the powerplay, but he got to get rid of Rizwan with the penultimate ball of the sixth over.
  • Usman Khan teamed up with Johnson Charles, and the two lost little time in going after the Islamabad bowlers. They worked a half-century partnership at a rapid pace, regardless of spin or speed.
  • Charles, in his very first encounter, fell for an 18-ball 42, and it was all Usman Khan following that. With this 50-ball hundred, he’s on track for making it 3 in succession.
  • Islamabad performed poorly with the ball and worse in the field, dropping three catches.

Second Innings

Islamabad United 232-7 (20 overs)
Colin Munro 84 (40)Abbas Afridi 3-40
Shadab Khan 54 (31)Mohammad Ali 2-44
Imad Wasim 30 (13)David Willey 1-30
RESULTUnited won by 3 wickets
  • This has to be the moment of the tournament so far. Islamabad United has done it, and they have done it in style. Now this is the way to enter the knockouts. Usman Khan would be disappointed seeing his efforts go to waste like this.
  • Hales, Salman, and Azam couldn’t do much against the Sultans bowlers. However, Colin Munro got the better of the bowlers and was later joined by Shadab Khan who added 54 runs to take the team closer to the victory.
  • Now, it was up to the tail to take the team past the line. And they did that exactly.
  • Faheem and Haider did their part in Islamabad’s chase. However, Imad Wasim showed class, made 30 runs in 13 deliveries, and helped Islamabad chase the highest total this season.
  • And with this, they have successfully reached the knockouts. Will they be able to win the title third time in a row? Well, the United fans are definitely wishing for this to happen.

Man of the match

Whoa whoa whoa! Wasn’t this a banger? Not the way Usman Khan would want his ton to go wasted. Colin Munro’s 84 runs off of 40 deliveries takes priority as it goes in the winning cause, earning Munro the Man of the Match award. He is again showing how important he is for the United.
