First Innings – Multan Sultans
Multan Sultans 185-2 | |
Batting | Bowling |
Reeza Hendricks 79 (54) | Mir Hamza 1-30 |
Dawid Malan 52 (41) | Daniel Sams 1-37 |
Khushdil Shah 28 (13) | Shoaib Malik 0-10 |
TARGET | 186 runs in 20 overs |
- Khushdil had a superb cameo at the end to propel Multan to 185. But you still get the impression that they’re a few runs short.
- Malan and Hendricks’ relationship devoured too many deliveries without allowing them to hit the throttle.
- They scored 121 runs for the second wicket off 84 balls, which was not impressive given the amount of batting to follow.
- Hendricks did manage to deliver a few ferocious smashes in the latter two overs, though. Will that be sufficient?
- The pitch appears to be decent for batting, however, we did notice slower balls holding in the pitch significantly. The Pacers frequently used their cutters, and Shamsi also found some turn.
Second Innings – Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings 130-8 | |
Batting | Bowling |
Shoaib Malik 53 (35) | Mohammad Ali 3-23 |
Kieron Pollard 28 (29) | Abbas Afridi 2-16 |
Shan Masood 30 (31) | David Willey 2-22 |
RESULT | Multan won by 55 runs |
- Karachi was only in the game when Masood and Malik were at the crease, but the former’s departure put them under too much strain, from which they never recovered.
- Malik scored a fifty, but the others did not agree with him. Willey grabbed two early wickets, Mohammad Ali followed with three, and Abbas Afridi added two.
- The final 5-6 overs were a no-brainer as Pollard attempted to farm the strike.
- Even though this is only the first game, Karachi’s batting appears to be relatively weak. Karachi has to do things differently. Although it was expected, they could do better.
- It will take a while for the new management and team to figure things out.
Man of the match
Reeza Hendricks won the man of the match for scoring that brilliant innings. What a knock it was!
