On 20 February 2023, Peshawar Zalmis and Quetta Gladiators will play the 9th match against each other at the National Stadium Karachi. This will be their first encounter in this season of HBL PSL. Well, officially, that is. They recently played a friendly match on 5 February 2023 at the Bugti International Stadium, Quetta. The Gladiators won that match, with Iftikhar Ahmad being the man of the game.
But their overall record says something else. Quetta hasn’t been able to win a match against them in the past five encounters. Also, they have won 8 out of 20 matches only.
Let’s see how this match plays out. Keep in mind that we are constantly updating this blog as new developments occur. We will update you after toss, 1st and 2nd innings

Toss
The PZ won the toss and chose to bowl first.
1st Innings
Peshawar began so brilliantly with 10 dots, forcing Jason Roy, Martin Guptill, and Mohammad Nawaz to go for their strikes, which they got. Iftikhar Ahmed and Sarfaraz reconstructed the game with a 74-run partnership, even though both batsmen battled on a sluggish, two-paced pitch. Peshawar added to the difficulty by bowling several slower balls. Iftikhar and Odean Smith hammered key boundaries at the end to push the score beyond 150. Odean Smith’s presence proved expensive.

2nd Innings
Haris got the Zalmi off to a good start, but Hasnain shocked them with three wickets in a row. Babar’s start was unsuccessful, but Powell and Neesham continued discovering the boundaries.
The two foreign hitters reached their 30s but could not complete the chase.
Shanaka and Riaz held their cool and finished it. Hasnain and Naseem battled valiantly, but they were the only ones who showed some hope to the Quetta fans. Alas! They didn’t have a decent total to defend, and the Zalmis won this match by 4 wickets. This is the 6th consecutive match they are winning against the Gladiators.
