First Innings – Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi 146-7 (20 overs)
BATTINGBOWLING
Babar Azam 46 (42)Usama Mir 2-16
Tom Kohler-Cadmore 24 (24)Chris Jordan 2-28
Mohammad Haris 22 (14)Mohammad Ali 1-13
TARGET147 RUNS in 20 overs
  • 147 is on the cards, and it seems like the Sultans are getting a straight ticket to the finals.
  • Peshawar Zalmi didn’t have a good day with the bat. With Babar being the only one who looked half-decent, things didn’t work out for the Zalmis at all.
  • They lost Saim quickly, which put a dent in their powerplay strategy. Those quick runs from Saim Ayub could have been great for the team.
  • The Multan bowlers did a great job restricting the batters to such a total. None of the batsmen were able to loosen up even one bit. Mohammad Haris tried to score some quickfire runs, but his stint on the pitch was cut short by Mohammad Ali
  • Usama Mir and Chris Jordan picked up two wickets each, and the rest of the bowlers did a great job picking up a wicket here and there and containing the Zalmis to a manageable score.
  • Once again, Usama Mir does a great job being the best bowler in the tournament. Is a national call-up coming indeed?

Second Innings

Multan Sultans 147-3 (18.3 overs)
BATTINGBOWLING
Yasir Khan 54 (37)Mehran Mumtaz 1-28
Usman Khan 36 (28)Aamer Jamal 1-23
Iftikhar Ahmed 22 (8)Salman Irshad 1-28
RESULTSultans won by 7 wickets
  • Peshawar required early wickets to make a contest of it, but Rizwan and Yasir Khan extinguished it with a good opening pair.
  • After that, it was about holding their nerve and hitting it about in the middle overs which they accomplished.
  • Charles struggled, but Iftikhar Ahmed stepped in and finished the job quickly. But kudos to Multan’s bowlers for making the chase easier.
  • The pitch became slower as the game progressed, and there was also reverse swing available, but Peshawar just lacked the defensive resources.
  • They do, however, have another opportunity to get to the final because they placed in the top two of the league stage.

Man of the match

Usama Mir, the bowler of the tournament so far, has won this award today. Of course, his crucial two wickets have helped the Sultans get a direct ticket to the finals.

What’s next?

With this, Multan Sultans get a direct ticket to the finals. Now, the Zalmis will have to play the second Eliminator against the winner of the first eliminator. This means the Zalmi fans have still some hopes left.
