Top 3 Players in PSL 9 Replacement Draft

Franchises have picked some exciting players in the replacement draft of HBL PSL season 9. They picked different players in the replacement and their 3rd and 4th supplementary picks. All the franchises have picked about 5 players in the replacement category and 11 players in the supplementary picks. This is a lot to cover in a single post. So, we will talk about the top 3 players from this draft. These are some exciting additions to the league. And who are these?

*Drum roll*

In this article, we will talk about Shamar Joseph, Haider Ali, and Sufyan Muqeem. So without any further delay, let’s get right into it.

Shamar Joseph

Peshawar Zalmi was suffering blow after blow when top players like Lungi Ngidi, Noor Ahmad, and Khurram Shahzad weren’t available, fully or partially. They had to make a comeback. And they did just that with Shamar Joseph. There was a little hiccup with they selected Gus Atkinson as a replacement for Noor Ahmad. But the Zalmi social media was pushing for Shamar. This was shocking. However, they were quick to get Shamar Joseph instead of Gus Atkinson.

But why Shamar Joseph?

Unless you are living under a rock, you will know the impactful bowling of Shamar Joseph that led to the West Indies winning a Test against Australia in Gabba after 27 years.

The young fast bowler doesn’t have much First-Class or international experience. But he stepped up, bowled well, and took 7-68 while defending a total of 216 runs.

Shamar Joseph doesn’t have much T20 experience. But his passion and zeal for the game will be a useful factor for the Zalmis in the upcoming HBL PSL 9.

Haider Ali

The next on the list is Haider Ali. Haider was once considered an emerging talent in the T20 format. He is still an exciting prospect, but the failure to convert this talent into numbers has him in sticky waters for quite some time.

Haider was first the part of Peshawar Zalmi where he showcased his talents and gathered people’s attention. He was good, to the point where he was considered in the same league as Babar Azam.

But, he failed to deliver as per the expectations. The last time, he played for Karachi Kings. But he only managed to score 109 runs in 6 matches, averaging 18.

In this year’s draft, the Karachi Kings didn’t select him. No one selected him, which came as shocking news. Not because he was so good, but because the fans were worried that they were seeing another talent getting wasted.

But here is Islamabad United, they selected him in the supplementary draft. With him, Naseem, and others, ISLU looks much more promising.

Sufyan Muqeem

The next one on the list is Sufyan Muqeem. And the Zalmis have won again by picking up one of the best-emerging talents in Pakistan cricket.

Sufyan is a left-arm wrist spinner. His exploits in the First-Class, National T20, and the emerging Asia Cup got him the attention of the fandom.

However, when he wasn’t selected by anyone in the HBL PSL 9 drafts, people were shocked. Pakistan needs a quality spinner, and not selecting such an exciting talent is just ludicrous.

And this is where the Zalmis have won the game. They have picked Sufyan in the supplementary draft, paving a path for him to get the necessary exposure, and some matches in this year’s PSL.

Sufyan has played 8 T20s, picked up 8 wickets, and has an economy rate of 7.56.
