Voicing the Concerns

According to sources, the PCB has expressed worries about the protracted delay in visa issuing. They disclosed that, following the PCB’s relentless efforts, India gave visas to Pakistan’s cricket squad, the last team to do so.

According to the sources, such delays are unnecessary and are affecting media and fans who plan to attend the event on October 5.

The PCB emphasized the need for immediate action on the visa policy in an email to the ICC. This will enable media personnel and supporters to apply for Indian visas punctually, allowing them to cover and cheer for the visiting team respectively.

The Growing Anxiety among fans

It’s concerning that the media and fans are still unaware of the visa restrictions, especially given that Pakistan has already completed the first of two warm-up games and is set to play its opening match against the Netherlands in a few days.

This circumstance has heightened concern among Pakistani supporters and media eager to support and cover their country at the World Cup.

The PCB hopes that the ICC and other relevant bodies will move quickly to resolve the issues.

Mandatory Visa Issuance as per ICC Rules

Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani stated earlier this week that the ICC requires host nations to meet visa needs, and refusing visas is not permitted.

He said that Pakistani supporters must obtain Indian visas and that the PCB will continue to pursue the issue with the ICC.

Pakistan is scheduled to play India on October 15 in Ahmedabad after playing qualifiers on October 6 and 12, respectively.
