Naseem Shah is fit for PSL 9

The chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team, Wahab Riaz, has spilled the beans on the fitness level of Naseem Shah.

The young fast bowler was emerging as one of the best pacers for the country in modern times. After working with coach Morne Morkel, fans observed a stark difference in Naseem’s bowling.

Unfortunately, Naseem became unfit due to injury and missed the Cricket World Cup. However, Wahab Riaz has declared Naseem fit for the PSL 9, opening doors for the T20 series against the Kiwis later in January.

Good news for Islamabad United

Wahab Riaz has recently declared Naseem fit to play PSL 9. He said that he chatted with Naseem and saw him making a swift recovery during his rehabilitation process.

Naseem Shah will be completely fit till PSL, I have met with Naseem, and his rehabilitation program is going very well.”

Naseem Shah was bowling pretty well. The fans enjoyed the bowling trio of Naseem, Shaheen, and Haris Rauf. However, this trio lost its teeth after all of them had injury concerns post-Sri Lanka series. You could see that during the Asia Cup 2023. However, Naseem was unlucky to get injured so bad he had to undergo surgery.

Due to the surgery, Naseem missed the CWC. However, he has gone through rehab and is fit for the Pakistan Super League.

This is good news for Islamabad United 2024 PSL. According to the reports, Islamabad United got him for 45 million PKR after a flourishing trade with Quetta Gladiators. However, there were concerns regarding the young pacer’s fitness level and whether he could play for ISLU in the current season.

But now these concerns have been answered. Naseem recently went through the final stages of the rehab process and has been declared entirely fit for play by the chief selector.

Preparation for the New Zealand Series

This has also allowed Naseem Shah to play the T20 series against the Black Caps in January 2024. Wahab Riaz also indicated they will invite top performers from the National T20 Cup for a preparatory camp for the New Zealand series.

“Naseem’s rehabilitation is being continued at NCA, Lahore under the care of a strength and conditioning coach, a physiotherapist and a doctor. Currently, he is doing light gym exercises and partial bowling practice and will start batting tomorrow. PCB is hoping to announce the squad for the T20I series against New Zealand by December 25. We will invite the top performers of the National T20 Cup to the camp. We will invite the top domestic players and the potential T20 stars in our camp.”
