PCB to announce World Cup Squad before Jumma Prayers

The wait is finally over, as PCB is about to announce the Cricket World Cup 2023 squad. Pakistan was to announce the squad on 20 September 2023. However, things weren’t as straightforward and simple as everyone thought they would be. There were many things to focus on, which may be why the announcement is coming this late.

PCB will announce the squad at 11:15 a.m. tomorrow before the Jumma (Friday) prayers. Seems like it is time to prostrate before Allah for the team’s success in this World Cup.

There are a lot of things to take care of. Naseem Shah got injured, Haris Rauf was yet to recover, and Pakistan had to look for replacements. It is not easy. Even Mohammad Wasim posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), “AI se bnwa lein team?” Some people were building the case for Mohammad Amir returning to the squad. While there is a majority that doesn’t want him to return ever.

Fans were getting worried as the tournament was getting near.

Another beef was for the wicketkeeper’s position. Some loyal Sarfaraz Ahmad fans out there want him in the team instead of Mohammad Rizwan. While Rizwan has been performing and has made a solid space for himself in the team. Some former cricketers have commented negatively on Rizwan, but they have also felt the heat from social media.

Pakistan has come far ahead of all the racial hate and discrimination in the team, which is a good sign. We believe PCB will select this team according to merit.
