First Innings

  • They started and finished well, but failed in the middle overs. However, this inning revolves around Mooney. She had not run a ball in a long time.
  • Her fifty was not even quick, but she stayed in there, rode some luck, and delivered a spectacular conclusion to defeat the best bowler of the occasion.
  • Ecclestone took 3-17 in her first three overs. Mooney tried to bring her down alone, hitting 21 and even asking one of her fellow players to give up the wicket via a run-out to do so.
  • The Warriorz did an excellent job of regaining control following a wicket-less powerplay.
  • With Wolvaardt leading the way, but in the middle overs, they scooped up three wickets for 13 runs and four wickets for 18 runs.
  • This appeared to be an average of 140 total till Mooney smashed her way. Still a little total on the table.

Second Innings

  • An uninterrupted stand of 109 almost pulled it off, but Gujarat held their nerve.
  • It all came down to a few key moments in the end: the 18th over by Meghna Singh, who surrendered only three runs, was one, and in the last over, after striking a six, Deepti chose to run when she should have been on strike.
  • That’s how T20 games go: tiny margins may decide whether you win or lose. However, in the grand scheme of things, the game was effectively over when the top order was destroyed.
  • Healy and Chamari opted to attack from the start and lost their wickets in the first over, which was an important turning point.
