Babar Azam 48 (36) | Jahandad Khan 1-22 |
Rovman Powell 46 (20) | Carlos Brathwaite 0-34 |
TARGET | 181 runs |
- Peshawar achieves their greatest score of the season. Babar and Ayub had a good opening combination of 136 runs, followed by Powell’s onslaught of 5 fours and 2 sixes.
- Once Ayub got his eye in, he took advantage of the conditions by posting a 55-ball 88 and taking the ball to all corners.
- Shaheen and Carlos bowled well, while the others went for the journey, and the hitters didn’t provide many opportunities either.
- Remember, the Lahore Qalandars are the only winless team in the competition, and this will be their first chase of the season.
- This was a great effort from Saim. He did something similar last year against the Qalandars as well. This time, he has done it again. What a lad!
Second innings
Lahore Qalandars 203-6 (20 overs) | |
BATTING | BOWLING |
Rassie van der Dussen 104 (52) | Naveen-ul-Haq 2-50 |
Shai Hope 29 (23) | Salman Irshad 1-39 |
Ahsan Hafeez 20 (13) | Paul Walter 1-41 |
RESULT | Zalmis won by 8 runs |
- Despite a great ton, van der Dussen comes away disappointed.
- The openers fell early, but van der Dussen was fantastic with his power play, he had too much to accomplish in the end.
- Peshawar maintains their composure with Walter employing all his skill in that final over, with those cutters into the pitch.
- Hope looked well but drew one back, and there was no significant contribution to back up van der Dussen’s.
- The wicket held up well in a high-scoring game, and Peshawar won. Saim Ayub’s fielding was also excellent, and he made a fantastic catch when the game was about to be decided.
Man of the match
And the award rightfully went to Saim. What a young talent he is. We can see glimpses of Saeed Anwar in him. Hopefully, he will not get lost forever in the nether and will play for Pakistan regularly.
