Nafay and Wasim share their insights on Quetta Gladiators

This season is going pretty well for Mohammad Wasim Jnr and the young Khawaja Nafay. The Gladiators selected these players during the HBL PSL 9 drafts on 13 December 2023. Now that we are halfway into the second phase of the group stages, these players have some interesting insights on their journeys with the franchise. Let’s see how they have learned from the rejuvenated Quetta Gladiators this year.

Wasim’s experience so far

Firstly, Mohammad Wasim acknowledged the guidance from Mohammad Amir. He stated that Amir is pretty helpful in sharing insights, bowling strategies, and guiding fast bowlers. Wasim says that Amir’s confidence boosts his morale as well, and his emphasis on learning skills and pace has benefited him.

He gave credit to guidance from people like Sarfaraz, Sir Viv Richards, and Shane Watson.

Here is what he said,

“There is a lot to learn from Sir Vivian Richards, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Shane Watson, I do my natural batting and play according to the situation, I try to practice every shot for two, three hours.”

Nafay also stated that playing alongside national players motivates him to do well and win a spot in the national side for himself. This shows the impact of PSL on the cricket of Pakistan.

Conclusion

Quetta Gladiators has been struggling since 2020, and none of us liked that, did we? The Gladiators was a team that dominated the tournament. However, ever since they won the title in 2019, it has been a backward slope. But that is the thing of the past. Now, the Gladiators are back in action, and they are creating impact for each player. Nafay and Wasim are just some examples.
