Babar Azam 72 (51) | Mir Hamza 3-28 |
Rovman Powell 39 (25) | Hasan Ali 3-30 |
Asif Ali 23 (16) | Daniel Sams 2-28 |
TARGET | 155 RUNS in 20 overs |
- Karachi Kings bowlers have done a very good job restricting the Zalmis on such a good batting pitch.
- Shoaib Malik startled Saim Ayub with a full ball, setting the tone for the rest of the game. This was a game-changer since Saim Ayub is a destructive batsman.
- Before the start of play, there was a disagreement about who would bowl, and the decision to give Malik the ball paid off.
- Babar performed his part, anchoring the innings and remaining till the 18th over. Powell kept him company, but just as it appeared that the Jamaican was about to shift gears, he fell, and the innings fought for impetus from there.
- They got Babar out at the right time. Otherwise, the Zalmis could have added at least 20 more runs on the scorecard.
Second innings – Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings 157-3 (16.5 overs) | |
BATTING | BOWLING |
Kieron Pollard 49 (21) | Luke Wood 2-20 |
James Vince 38 (30) | Waqar Salamkheil 1-54 |
Shoaib Malik 29 (29) | Aamer Jamal 0-13 |
RESULT | Karachi Kings won by 7 wickets |
- This is a big win for the Kings. The Zalmis have suffered back-to-back losses, and they have work to do.
- When Shoaib Malik was removed in the 13th over, the game appeared to be tight. But Pollard came in, hit his first ball for a six, and never looked back.
- He took a special fancy to Waqar Salamkheil, who hammered 34 off 11 balls and effectively ended the game. James Vince kept his end up, finishing with a 30-ball 38*.
- Wood took two wickets, but except for Babar Azam, Zalmi’s batting failed to deliver.
- Again, the Zalim bowlers didn’t have much to play around with. Seems like Peshawar batsmen have to step up their game if they want to have any chance in this tournament.
Man of the match
Mir Hamza has won the man of the match award for taking three wickets for 28 runs. These wickets included big fish like Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, and Aamer Jamal. He also took two catches.
