Shaheen Shah Afridi 55 (34)Mohammad Wasim 1-28
Sahibzada Farhan 25 (22)Mohammad Amir 1-30
TARGET167 RUNS in 20 overs
  • The pacers received little assistance from the new ball, but they did not enable the openers to get their innings off to a flying start.
  • Abrar was asked to bowl the last over of the powerplay, and he dismissed both batters in the same over. Shai Hope fell easily, and the Qalandars were 70/3 at the midway point.
  • Shaheen Afridi moved up to No. 5 and battled with timing, scoring 15 runs off 14 deliveries. The Lahore captain raised the bar.
  • Hit a pair of sixes versus Akeal, followed by two more against Abrar Ahmed for a 28-ball fifty. Shafique, on the other hand, scored another outstanding fifty, his second in a row.
  • However, Wasim and Amir bowled excellently at the finish, conceding only 12 runs in the final two overs. Quetta needs 167 to secure a playoff position.

Quetta Gladiators

Quetta Gladiators 169-4 (20 overs)
Saud Shakeel 88 (65)Jahandad Khan 2-30
Khawaja Nafay 26 (24)Shaheen Afridi 2-41
Jason Roy 18 (14)George Linde 0-30
RESULTGladiators won by 6 wickets
  • It would have been quite awful if they had played out the 20 overs without crossing the line, as Shakeel and Nafay required a lot of deliveries to get the innings started.
  • However, Shakeel redeemed himself at the finish with some key blows when 29 runs were required off two overs.
  • There wasn’t much for Usama here. He went as the most expensive bowler today, and this caused a lot of pain for the Sultans. After all, he is the top wicket-taker of the tournament so far.
  • Laurie Evans and Mohammad Wasim later finished the game in style. What a day it was in the history of HBL PSL 9. This has to be the best day for this tournament.

Man of the match

Saud Shakeel is gearing up at the right time. This is a good sign for the Gladiators. Nadeem Omer has played his cards right by selecting players like these who can do it for the Quetta team. What an inning it was from Saud. This was a well-deserved award for him.
