First Innings
- This was a devastating effort from the DC women. Not the sort of final they wanted them to play
- But you can’t put all the blame on the Delhi girls. They got a little bit complacent after scoring 61 runs in the powerplay. Things were looking like they were getting out of hand for the RCB women.
- And this is where Sophie comes to play. She took 3 wickets in a single over, and since then, DC Women weren’t able to stand up from the debacle.
- After Sophie’s success, it was Shreyanka Patil who destroyed the rival bowling lineup, giving RCB a meagre total of 114 runs to chase.
- In a cup final, runs are crucial, but DC will be well aware that they are at least 30 runs shy of an aggressive score. There’s not much in it for the bowlers, and they’ll need to bowl very well if they want to limit RCB.
Second Innings
- WHAT A TIME TO BE AN RCB FAN! THEY HAVE FINALLY DONE WHAT THEIR MEN’S TEAM COULD DO SINCE 2008.
- This wasn’t a difficult title to chase. RCB batters sailed through it with ease.
- The DC bowlers tried to restrict the batters under the score. However, the RCB women played with a calm mindset, slowing crossing the finish line in the 19th over.
- Things could have been worse, but the opposition kept their cool, and became the winner of the second season of Women’s Premier League.
Player of the match
Sophie Molineux has done it. She has single-handedly won RCB women’s this final. The 7th over was the talk of the show. Those three wickets from Sophie in that over have made it possible for RCB to win it. BRAVO!
